A Little History of SIS
Sounds In Syllables (SIS) is a highly effective Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading, spelling, writing, and the foundations of syntax and grammar. Developed in the 1980s by Sandra Dillon, SIS draws from evidence-based practices in neurology, cognitive sciences, psychology, speech-language pathology, and linguistics.
In 2023, the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center (ASDEC) acquired SIS. ASDEC is committed to continuing the legacy of excellence that SIS has established over the years. The program's high standards and efficacy will remain unchanged, ensuring that it continues to provide outstanding support to individuals in their journey to literacy and language proficiency.
